The Opportunity:

The role of the Pathologist Liaison in Medical Scientific Affairs is to serve as a key scientific expert, building and maintaining relationships with the medical and scientific communities. The primary responsibilities are centered around external engagement and internal and external education.  The assigned portfolio includes Pathology Lab (companion diagnostics, digital pathology, other high medical value assays) and Sequencing / Life Sciences (next generation sequencing, digital PCR and qPCR).

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

External Engagement:

  • Serve as a scientific expert for a specific region, building and maintaining relationships with pathologists, lab personnel, and other key opinion leaders.

  • Communicate information about products and disease areas to customers and institutions, ensuring all interactions align with good promotional practices.

  • Conduct peer-to-peer training and perform slide reviews to educate customers on the clinical value and proper use of our diagnostic products.

  • Address scientific and clinical inquiries from customers, documenting requests and providing clear, accurate information.

  • Gather valuable and communicate external insights and feedback from the medical community to help shape medical strategies

Educational Programs:

  • Collaborate with other Medical Scientific Affairs (MSA) team members to develop and implement educational programs, such as workshops and seminars, for the scientific community.

  • Play a central role in the launch of new products, providing critical peer-to-peer training for new customers and supporting pharma partnerships.

  • Act as a coach and mentor to colleagues, helping to develop their skills and expertise.

Who You Are:

  • MD degree is required with a background of focus in Pathology (anatomic and molecular expertise required) and 3 years of experience

  • Board certification / eligibility in molecular genetic pathology is preferred

  • Experience and/or training in molecular and genetic pathology is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in oncology and personalized medicine.

  • Direct clinical or research experience with Digital Pathology, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), and Companion Diagnostics.

  • Experience in Medical Affairs within an IVD or pharmaceutical company.

  • Experience with IVD assay development and commercialization.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse laboratory and healthcare professionals.

  • Skilled in understanding, interpreting, and presenting scientific and medical topics.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a matrixed organization.

  • Business acumen and strategic prioritization/decision-making.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.

Location: This is a field-based position with a preference for candidates based in the Northeast.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is 159,600 - 296,400.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
