Shaktipreneur in Spotlight: Hemalatha Rajesh (Co-founder, Hivericks Technologies)
“Our mission is to build Cleantech, sustainable solutions that impact everyday life habits and will have a reduced impact on the climate and the environment along with a user-friendly experience for the customer,” says Hemalatha, Shaktipreneur in Spotlight, CEO and Founder of Hivericks Technologies.
Hivericks Technologies is building cutting-edge, and environment-friendly charging solutions in the consumer electronics space and commercial applications to create SMART and GREEN HOMES and communities.
The inspiration behind the project
Hemalatha feels that startups can play a crucial role in building sustainable lifestyles as they can bring creative, usable, and impactful solutions.
“Change is possible only when practices are adopted by common people and executed at the grassroots,” she adds.
The Journey of the entrepreneur
Hemlatha’s journey started in early2019 when she and her co-founders started brainstorming around multiple charging solutions for lithium-ion batteries . While there were many players in the EV space no one was addressing the biggest source of emissions related to the usage and charging of devices-laptops, smartphones, and tablets. She felt this was a neglected space, as these devices have become integral to people’s lives and businesses.
It was not an easy start for them.
“There were times when we were going to give up due to financial setbacks and some wrong decisions, but our conviction towards our purpose kept us going, “ she confesses.
Today, Hivericks technologies are building AI-Enabled, Intelligent, Green CLEANTECH charging solutions for Li-Ion devices like laptops and phones to make chargers smarter and create unique charge programs to protect the battery while reducing individual carbon footprint by 38%.
Xoptimus application for Laptops and Smartphones for Li-Ion Batteries maintains optimal charge levels based on individual usage patterns and other real-time battery parameters, thus increasing longevity, performance, and saving energy. Xoptimus currently supports Android and Windows-based Laptops, smartphones, and tablets. The application is being upgraded to support IOS devices, too.
“Our patent was recently granted, and we are looking to go to markets with corporates and OEMs for pilots,” she says.
Advice to Women Entrepreneurs
- Choose suitable incubation programs and genuine mentors with the right contacts and connections.
- Do your research on the ecosystem and policies before making critical decisions.
- Do not create startups to raise investments.
- Try to avoid external investors initially. Wait till you gain traction to ensure better negotiation powers.
- Make sure you have a sound support system.
- Involve your team and make them a part of the organization’s journey.
“The key to success is persistence, as the entrepreneurial journey is full of ups and downs,” she adds.
Hemalatha, the Shaktipreneur
Hemalatha joined STEP as she felt an all-women incubator would be a platform to understand the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs.
“STEP is different from other incubation programs in the ecosystem. The program’s unique design keeps in mind the emotional and other challenges of women entrepreneurs,” she says.
Hemalatha particularly liked the storytelling session.
“STEP focuses on the softer aspects of entrepreneurship that are essential for women entrepreneurs,” she adds.
Another favorite was the session around Finance.
“It had a very down-to-earth approach that made it easy for non-finance people like us to understand,” she adds.
Hemalatha describes the STEP community as her comfort zone. The experiences of the entrepreneurs in her cohort have helped her to be persistent in her journey.
“The atmosphere around the sessions was amazingly interactive and helped us open up. Being a part of the cohort still gives me a warm feeling,” she adds.
Hemalatha, the person

She draws inspiration from her father and strives to be a caring and sympathetic person like him.
Aquote by Henry Ford is a mantra of her life- ” When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
